Guests can visit the world-renowned Kruger National Park, situated a mere 40km from Phelwana Game Lodge, either in their own vehicle or on a guided safari. Spend the day searching for the Big Five and other amazing wildlife. Our guided safari departs the lodge at 05:00. The full day safari returns around 16:30 and the half day safari at approximately 12:30.
Pre-booking is essential for a guided safari but not required if you are driving yourself.

This safari takes you into the stunning landscapes of some of Hoedspruit’s most beautiful reserves. Enjoy the backdrop of the Drakensberg mountains as you set out searching for the iconic wildlife who call these wild spaces home. From giraffe and zebra to lion, cheetah, rhinos and elephants, there is so much to see. Morning safaris are from 05:30 to 09:00 and afternoon from 15:30-18:30. Each safari includes a complimentary drinks stop. These safaris are best suited to guests with their own transport who can drive themselves to the pick-up point.

The Blyde River Canyon is one of the largest canyons on Earth and is world famous for its breath-taking viewpoints and magnificent waterfalls. It has some of the deepest precipitous cliffs of any canyon on the planet and is second largest canyon in Africa.
Visit the Three Rondavels, God's Window, the Pinnacle and Bourke's Luck Potholes, amongst other beautiful sights.

Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is a non-profit organisation that takes care of abandoned, orphaned, injured, and poisoned wildlife.
Animal species are brought to the centre from all corners of South Africa, and once healthy enough, are re-introduced into their natural environments. Those creatures that cannot be released into the wild due to the nature and extent of their injuries are cared for at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.
Visitors can view the animals and enjoy tours of the facility. Animals in rehabilitation include rescued Lions, Leopard, Caracal, Serval, Cheetah, various Eagle and Vulture species.

Most visitors experience the Blyde River Canyon from the views along the Panorama Route, high atop the cliffs of the canyon. The boat cruise offers a slightly different viewpoint and one that is equally astonishing.
The trip takes you on a fascinating journey to some of the most scenic points of the canyon lead by a guide who is happy to point out any hippos or crocodiles you may see on the way, along with many other types of wildlife that call the canyon home.
Perhaps the most popular sight along the cruise is the Kadishi Tufa waterfall, the second largest in the world. Guests can self-drive or organize a transfer from the lodge.

Flying safaris are offered to allow guests to experience flying in a Bantam microlight and view the Big Five from above. Flights of 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes are available.
Experience a birds-eye-view of the Blyde River Canyon or fly over Big 5 game reserves where a wide variety of game can be seen.

One has never truly experienced the pleasures of flight until you have done so in a hot air balloon. Sail along with the wind, with the peace and quiet of the air around you.
Launching and landing sites, and the areas over which the Balloon drifts, are totally dependent on the wind conditions, however, on most trips it is very possible to see a wide range of animals from giraffe, to elephants and zebras.
Tours can be arranged in advance, but these flights are very weather dependent and are normally con-firmed the day before the activity departs.

Guests experience the original show Limpopo Pathways featuring the costumes, songs and dances of the local tribes which played an influential part in the history of Limpopo.
Following the show (approx. 60min), guests are led down to the traditional Shangaan Village. Here guests learn about the architecture, the agriculture, family duties and customs of the Shangaan people.

One of the displays is devoted to the famous White Lions of the Timbavati - only when you stand next to one of these mythical creatures do you realize how big they are.
